Transformational Results: Edwin’s Journey
Edwin says, “Thanks to NeuroAnimation, I have a real avenue for progress”!
Edwin Fernandez could do it all. A former professional volleyball player, salsa dancer, motorcycle enthusiast, and consummate athlete, Edwin suffered an ischemic stroke 8 years ago, rendering him with left side hemiplegia. A friend in the volleyball community told him about NeuroAnimation and he knew he had to try it. Edwin had tried many other therapies in the United States and abroad, but he said the Bootcamp was by far the best, and like nothing he had ever experienced.
Immediately, Edwin said he felt a surreal activation in his brain and body that he had never had since his stroke. He described it as a tingling sensation, a feeling as though his head, brain and body had all been activated together.
He was extremely excited about the improvement he made in his gait, his increased walking speed, and an increase in finger activation.
Measurable Gains in Mobility and Control
Edwin demonstrated a noticeable reduction in spasticity in his left upper extremity over the course of the program. His hand became more relaxed at rest and during movement, allowing for smoother and more controlled motion. This decrease in tone made it easier for him to initiate movement and contributed to his ability to begin extending his fingers.
He also showed strong improvements in his walking pattern and overall gait efficiency. He improved across multiple mobility assessments, including faster Timed Up and Go (-15.3%), Timed Sit-to-Stand (-19.5%), and Lap Time (-21.9%), reflecting better endurance, balance, and coordination.
For Edwin, this experience brought a flood of happy tears for what now is possible. He tells everyone it was all that he expected and more.
