Beth Murphy had a stroke 2 days before the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that took the life of her husband. She is a 3x cancer survivor, who has captured the heart of the nation with her Herculean perseverance, strength, and resolve. Beth is a force of nature, obliterating barrier after barrier, proving those who said she can’t wrong at every step. She taught us all about the human spirit, that “hope is not naive- it’s necessary” and we are all stronger than we think.

Beth came to NeuroAnimation for our 3 week bootcamp and astonished everyone with her incredible gains.

After years of living with chronic stroke, Beth achieved something once thought impossible: true finger individuation. We have seen this in a number of our stroke survivors. Before our program, she could not isolate her digits, and she can now voluntarily pincer each finger to her thumb. The movements are still in their infancy, but their significance is enormous. Even small gains in selective finger control indicate meaningful reactivation and creation of new neural pathways, a core marker of motor recovery.
